The following information is for current volunteers who:
  • Attended an orientation prior to January 2009
  • Volunteer at the shelter directly with the animals and
  • Plan to volunteer in 2009 and beyond.

This does NOT apply to volunteers who:
  • Only volunteer exclusively at outside events, such as Holiday gift wrapping, Lucky Mutt Strut, etc.
  • New volunteers who have not yet gone through an orientation
  • Volunteers who have gone through orientations after January, 2009

As you may know, some changes have come to the volunteer program in 2009. The volunteer program has grown to where it is now thanks to the help of everyone who contributes their own time and energy to helping out the animals who so desperately need it. However, with growth comes the need for improved organization and security.
Everyone at MaxFund sincerely appreciates everything you do for the shelter, so thanks and keep it up! In January and February we conducted several meetings to keep volunteers current on the changes coming down the pipeline, as well as to take photos for the new volunteer badges. These meetings were mandatory and we offered several to ensure everyone could attend, but we understand that some volunteers schedule did not allow them to attend one.

If you would like to remain current as a volunteer and make arrangements to receive a new photo badge, please read the list below of what we will need and email Matt at matt@maxfundvolunteers.org

To get you a new badge, we will need the following: These can be either mailed to Matt at:
Matt Adams/MaxFund
1551 Aspenwood Ln.
Longmont, CO 80501
or left at the shelter (preferably in an envelope with notes that it is for a current volunteer and for Matt Adams).

We are asking that all volunteers, no matter how long they have been volunteering, fill out new volunteer applications. As applications have changed throughout the years, older applications didn't included much needed information. You may fill out the application electronically (preferred) and then print it and bring it with you. If you'd prefer, you can print a blank application and fill it out by hand. Blank applications will also be available at the shelter and at volunteer meetings if you don't have the ability to print these yourself.
To download the application, visit maxfundvolunteers.org/VolunteerApplication.pdf.
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader in order to access the application. Acrobat Reader can be downloaded for free at Adobe.com. If you have an older version of Reader and get an error on the application, you may download an more compatable version at www.maxfundvolunteers.org/VolunteerApplication2.pdf
Please ignore the information on the first page regarding turning applications into the shelter, signing up for orientations and conducting interviews. This information is for new volunteers only!
In an effort to help everyone (staff, volunteers, and public) identify each other, photo badges will required for all staff and volunteers at the shelter. Volunteers will no longer be able to use the badges with no name/photo. This badge will be yours to keep and you are required to wear it at all times when volunteering. The staff at the shelter and the clinic will also be wearing photo badges. Badges will come with a purple MaxFund lanyard if you don't have one already, as well as a badge clip to clip to your clothing. You may use other suitable badge devices assuming your badge remains visible at all times.
Because MaxFund has limited resources, and we don't want to take funds from the animals who need it, we are asking volunteers to help offset the cost of these badges by paying $5 for their initial badge/lanyard/badge clip. If for some reason you are unable to cover the $5, please don't let that keep you from volunteering!.
New Time requirement of volunteers - We are asking that all volunteers contribute at least 4 hours per month to the shelter, with three months to "catch up" those hours. For example if you can't volunteer volunteer in January and February, we'd ask that you contribute 12 hours by the end of March. This is about one hour a week, or one half-day per month! For currently active volunteers, this may not seem much different but these minimums will start being enforced in 2009.
