Reuben

Hi! My name is Reuben, and I am a 2-year old, 70-pound Shepherd mix. I was found as a stray and a nice family brought me to Maxfund. I am forever grateful for the food, shelter and walks I get here. That being said, I am really looking for my forever loving home.
I am a very happy spirited dog who is curious on walks and enjoys them searching high and low for things to ponder about. I have been known to chase squirrels quite vigorously, and I show my strength when I want to go somewhere. I do have some leash issues; I have a tendency to grab and shake the leash while on a walk. Using a metal chain leash helps keep me from engaging in this behavior, but what I really need is some positive behavior training. I’m receiving some of that training from the volunteers here, and I look forward to making continued progress with my forever human!
I currently hold the title of “strongest dog at Maxfund.” I’m looking to be adopted by someone who is physically strong, loves to hike/camp and enjoys being physically fit, just like me. With training, I can probably learn to carry a pack or two on my back. I have been unemployed for a bit of time, and I’m the kind of dog who needs a job!
I already know how to sit, and once I get to know you, I will happily roll over for belly rubs. I also have some awesome play bows! When I wag my tail it has been shown to have a wide and high spirited swing to it; in fact, I have been told I could play golf with my tail swing! My grin is incomparable to that of any dog in the dog world, yes, even at Maxfund.
Because I’m a very smart dog, but one who doesn’t quite know my own strength, I am looking for more opportunities for positive behavior training. For now, I am not comfortable at the thought of living with kids, cats, or other dogs.
I continue to show Maxfund more about me every day, but I would rather show you and be with you, so please come down and see me. I am a happy, loving dog for sure, especially after just a short time of getting to know you. I may bark at you when you come to my cage, but that is how I say “hi” and "glad to see you."
